The movie that started the entire saga called ‘Iron Man’ is one of the most and primary examples of augmented reality. Considering that the man inside the Iron Man suit, genius billionaire playboy philanthropist Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey, Jr.), is a technological wizard capable of building an advanced suit of armour in a cave with a box of scraps, it makes sense that Stark has the best tech.
When we start discussing Augmented Reality and also in Iron Man movies, his Heads Up Display (HUD) comes into the picture. It gives us a fair representation of how augmented reality headsets and smart glasses would assist users in the real world. Also, it helps to identify objects and individuals within his field of view.
In the Iron Man 2 movie, the HUD still continues and also it introduced a war machine suit which is piloted by Colonel James Rhodes. In this film, another example of Augmented Reality comes to the notice where Stark has a smartphone that has seen through the display. Stark just has to point at the computer using his smartphone and it gets hacked.
Once again in the Avengers series to there are Iron Man’s HUD comes into focus but also with that he plays around with his see-through laptop and gets visuals through holographic effects too.
In one more scene, Loki is seen used to Augmented Reality and then he pops out the individual eyeballs and then scans them and then creates a real-time 3D model.
Once again Iron Man’s HUD warns about an impending surge of power from Thor’s hammer which enables him to deploy a more powerful blast from his gauntlets.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron there was a scene where strains come alive and then bruce and stark makes something new with that. Augmented Reality has been used with Stark smartphone technology.
In Avengers: Endgame there are pretty many places where Augmented Reality has been used. First in the starting of the movie Stark has worn smart glasses and also he has his own HUD..
Later in the movie, everyone gets their own suits and HUD when they travel in space.
After that at the beginning of the scene when Stark is found to be using the helmet and recording his final Farewell rays comes out of the helmet and that's Augmented Reality.
At the starting of the movie Tony Stark recreates a scene from the past in front of students. It is the new technology of Marvel known as binarily augmented retro framing. (BARF) It is the combination of lens projection and smart glasses.
Also, later in that movie, Stark uses a smartwatch outfitted with projection displays that enable Stark to conveniently show images to others.
Spiderman has many franchises. So, as time passed the technology used in that movie started to advance.
In spiderman: Homecoming there is a scene in which spiderman gets the suit with an enabled HUD so that it helps him to detect the enemies around.
In spiderman: Far From Home Stark leaves his smart glasses for Peter Parker which he is unable to handle properly. After that also they have all the 3d printers from which he makes his own suit according to his requirements. After that, the villain has all the effects created in the studio and managed by him with the help of Augmented Reality.
Thor series :
Thor: The Dark World in this movie Asgard Augmented Reality is out of the pack. In this when Jane is taken to Asgard there they remove from her soul forge and see how she is consumed from it. The machine scans Jane's whole body and then detects the issue.
In Thor: Ragnarok there is a planet called Sakar on that planet they have different uses of AR. They display grandmasters on big screens.
So, Augmented Reality has entered each and every field. It has become the new normal for all of us & we are surrounded by this technology! All we need to do is look around us.
